We would like to invite you to a talk by a the american phonologist
Prof. Jennifer S. Cole (Northwestern University)
entitled The linguistic and social functions of prosody (abstract attached),
taking place on Monday, October 22nd, at 9.45am in room 3.05.
Jennifer is a world-leading expert on how the dynamics of prosodic features of speech (tonal and temporal patterns) reflect linguistic (sentence structure) as well as paralinguistic information (the speaker's emotions and attitudes). She has published extensively on the prosody of English and other languages.
Jennifer will be visiting our department as part of her Distinguished Lecturer Tour funded by the International Speech Communication Association.
